Activity 2 :CLASSROOM UTILIZATION OF
COMMUNITY RESOURCES IN THE LESSON
Based on our observation in Math Class of Grade 8 with the
supervision of Sir Randy Saldivar, no community resources being utilized in
the classroom discussion mainly because the topic, which is the plotting of
points on Cartesian plane, does not suit to have resources that can be found
on the environment.
Another is the Teacher itself finds difficult to teach the lessons to
the students due to the massive number of students in the classroom. He
uses Lapel in his discussion for the students to hear the lessons being
discussed.

Activity 3: INTERVIEW OF THE SCHOOL
TEACHER
RANDY SALDIVAR
San Jose Pili National High School

1. What schools activities do you conduct that allow the participation of

the people of the barangay?
Prior to the opening of the classes, one of the activities that allows
the community to participate is what we called the Brigada Eskwela. It is the
activity that prepares the school so that in the opening of the classes there will be
no disturbance. The teacher will enter the classroom to teach not to clean.
Another is the Nutrition Month and Intramurals that invites the community to
watch and participate also.
2. Are there community activities that you, as teachers join?
Please name. Do your learners join also on these activities?
The faculty and staff of the school are encourage to join
likewise in the community activity say for instance, during the
fiesta, conducting Clean Up Drive, and Feeding Program in
Barangay Hall on the selected malnourished children. The
students are encourage to participate because their are the main
client of the school and the center of educative process.

3. What learning do your students gain from the

participation?
Socialization is one of the learning that might be gain and
another is to become responsible and their discipline should still
within not without and showing to the community the core values
they have learn in the school.
4. What does the community benefit from joining in your school
activities ?
Maybe the community can be benefited perhaps they can be
entertained and another thing is they can learn. If the students are
learning, the community will also learn out of the activities being
conducted by the school.

5. As per your observation, are the lessons you taught in the school
transferred to the homes or the community?
One of the target of 21st century learners is to apply whatever
concept being learned inside the classroom must be transferred
efficiently and effectively in their real life situations. That is why, they
need to apply every learning absorbed in the classroom. Specifically in
Mathematics, whatever learning they gained throughout the subject it
must be applied in daily living for example if the money is involved and
also the critical thinking skills must be applied on those situations. To be
a 21st century learner they must be effective agent of change in the
community.
