Diagnosis of Celiac Disease


‡ Most Accurate Diagnostic Tool is Small Intestinal Biopsy.
This is done through an endoscope through the mouth
into the duodenum (beginning of the small intestine).
‡ Blood test can also be run to determine if antibodies
(specifically: endomysial antibodies, anti-tissue
transglutaminase antibodies, and anti-gliadin
antibodies).

 


Controlling Symptoms
‡ Eating a Gluten-Free Diet
± Avoid products made from wheat, rye
and barley
± 2006 Food Allergen Labeling and
Consumer Rrotection Act (FALCRA),
require companies to clearly label
products with Gluten.
