Project Closure

Project closure is the last phase in the implementation of a project that comprises of various
activities, for example;
• Project evaluation by the custodian,
• Documenting the project procurements and bookkeeping
• Acceptance of the overall project by the project sponsors (Kerzner, 2013).
The closure process entails three primary deliverables which are:
• Wrapping up the project
• Post-implementation evaluation
• Retrospective activities
Step1: Wrapping up the Project

Project wrap-up process involves various deliverables to the project custodians, for example,
• Project approval and acceptance by the sponsors
• Closing accounts and bookkeeping
• Paying bills
• Returning the remaining resources
• Writing final project report.
Step 2: Post Implementation Evaluation

The primary objective of carrying out a post-implementation evaluation is to establish the


performance of a project team including the project manager.
Other project post evaluations includes;
• Project schedule and budget
• Users satisfaction
• Project standards
• Effectiveness of team problem solving and decision-making process
Step 3: Retrospective Activities

Retrospective activities entail


• An analysis carried out after the project cycle that heightens the ability to understand
and documenting the positive and the negative sides of a project.
The retrospective project closure process comprises of
• Documenting the lessons learned
• Creating a plan of action
• Celebrating the project success

Important Facts

Each year girls ages 7 to 17:


• Lose interest in computer sciences
• Ages 7 – 12 have the most interest
• Young girls entering college have the least interest
Women in tech industry:
• Less women in computer sciences
• 18% of computer graduates are women (2016)
• It is estimated that by 2020 only 3% of tech jobs will be filled by women
