GROUP 3

Right to organize
Right to respect
See The family of the victims and the survivors are against the political agenda, Extra Judicial Killings since they are killing people and other
innocent individuals too. The families involved were not given the chance to speak up because the government do not pay attention to these
things. It was also reported that there were a lot of complaints filed against President Duterte but the Malacañang just belittled it since there
were a lot of case filed and they said they it doesn’t mean anything. These act violates the right to honor or to respect. Even if the society is
against the government, the officials should always respect the opinions of its people. Also, last February 24, 2018, Many Filipinos, specifically
Catholics, protested regarding the political agenda which is the War on Drugs. They used their Right to Organize and their Right to Freedom of
Speech wherein they formed a group in order to voice out and express their stand towards the issue and they cited why the government’s
agenda wasn’t pro-life, it involved killing people whenever they are seen engaging in drugs, they resist in turning themselves in or they fight
back. However, the more dejecting part is that innocent people are involved and being killed too, and as Catholics we are taught to value
human dignity over anything that’s why there are many Catholics who protest regarding this issue.

Judge Ever since the beginning, the church has never supported violence to solve any social problem. The Christian Social Teaching in PCP II, Peace
and Active Non-Violence states that Violence isn’t the solution to everything. God created this world for people to interact and live with one
another and not to be the reason of someone’s death. With violence, no one would win. Someone would be a victim and someone would have
sinned by killing his/her own brethren. PCP said that Peace is the “harmony of the human heart and a social order brought about by justice”
and to exercise this is by respecting our social rights to free speech, respect, and to organize. The issue of Kian Delos Santos informs us the
painful reality that we are currently living in a world in which violence seems to be happening in every corner, very contradicting to what God
has planned for us. The church aims to preserve our rights as human beings and remind us that we are called to configure social life correctly
(Deus Caritas Est). Thus, the Church constantly reminds us to protect not only our social rights but the rights of others as well.

Act In solving the issues regarding extrajudicial killings, the policemen should focus more on intelligence reports which will help them investigate
who the suspected drug pushers are. If these people will be arrested, the number of drug users would be lessened. Also, with the help of these
reports, there will be a higher chance of discovering who these pushers are and the killings will be decreased. The right to honor can be
applied in this plan of action by respecting the people in the different sectors of the society and understanding the situation they are in. Most of
the suspects involved in this issue were accused falsely of a crime that they didn’t commit, and this shows how they are treated poorly by
society. One of the ways wherein we can prevent this perception towards people like them are facilitating talks or conferences for teenagers
and adults which will help them be aware of their human rights and how they can protect and take care of it. Another way is by holding plays
that show different scenarios wherein simple actions can be considered as violating human rights for children so they can understand how their
social rights can be applied in their lives by teaching them how to respect others and to express themselves.
