SANITARY PLUMBING DESIGN

PARCEL F
Types of Waste Collected and Discharged In Parcel F
Summary

1. Solid Waste – UPVC (Tower), Podium and

Underground (Cast Iron)
2. Grey Water - UPVC
3. Domestic Waste – UPVC
4. Kitchen Waste – Cast Iron
5. Various Tank Overflow/Scour Pipe – ABS
6. AHU Condensate – UPVC c/w K-Flex Insulation
7. Vent Gas - UPVC
Sanitary General Design Standard for Parcel F
Summary

1. Design set by Local Authorites Mostly from

-Jabatan Alam & Sekitar
-SYABAS
-JKR
-Drainage, Sanitation and Sanitary Law 1974
-SPAN

2. All Final Waste Discharge Point will be the External ManHole

3. Various Kitchen Waste and Car Wash Oil Waste must be filtered by Grease interceptor and
Oil Interceptor.

4. Solid Waste must be discharged directly straight to External Manholes

5. Rain water collection concept (By Architect). To be installed by MEP Team.

6. Grey Water T&C Outcome Requirements.

-Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD)
High BOD Promotes Bacteria Cultivation. Therefore standard has set BOD Removal efficiency
required to be more the 95% to ensure the recycled water is safe when in contact with
humans
-Total Suspended Solid (TSS)
Filtration of Solids
-Total Coliform
Common Bacteria in Various Mediums used as measuring indicators for sanitary quality in
this case used to measure the quality of the recycled water. Expected removal efficiency for
Trident’s Grey Water system is 100% for Parcel F.
Stack Pipe Sizing for Sanitary Wastes

Eg. Sizing of Kitchen Waste Stack.

Step 1 – Summing Up DU
Per Pantry Discharge Unit (DU) is 27 units
For F7
Level 1 to Level 7 – 1 nos Pantry Every Floor
Level 8 – 2 nos Pantry

Therefore total number of DU will be 27 units x 9 nos

Pantry = 216 units
Eg. Sizing of Kitchen Waste
Stack.

Step 2 – Choosing Pipe Size

Based on DU
Since total number of DU will be
27 units x 9 nos Pantry = 216
units

Therefore we would like to

choose 90mm as the preferred
Cast Iron Size

But The sizes that are used in

Parcel-F only consist for 3 inch
(75mm) and 4 inch (100mm).
Therefore the Preferred size that
will be chosen will be 100mm
Pipe Size.
Sizing of Grease and Oil Interceptor

-By using the total DU Value from the Previous Slide. Convert the
DU to Litre/Second and to GPM

-Therefore example at 216 DU the Flow Rate acquired at Figure 27

is 3.8L/s 50.16 British Gallon Per Minute

-Finally we will choose 75 GPM and order from S.K. Wawasan

Overall Sanitary Design Concept in Parcel F
Common Features to Take Note In Parcel F’s Sanitary Design Concept

2. The Particular Detail “C” Half way through the Solid

Waste stack Pipe is to reduce the Solid Waste Impact
when transferring to Podium.

1. Ablution and Toilet Basin’s Waste are considered as

Grey Water Waste
4. KW will go through Grease Interceptor and converted into
3. Solid Waste and Grey Water Overflow and Scour Solid be discharged straight to Inspection Chamber then to
Waste Needs to be discharged straight to Inspection external manhole. No high quantity of grease waste is allowed
Chamber then to external manhole due to odour to be discharged to the external manhole without proper
factors. filtration
-Pantry will have a centralized Interceptor.
-Stalls will have their Individual Grease Interceptors.
5. Car Wash Areas Will have Oil Interceptors. Only F3
and F7 will have Submersible Pumps to Pump the
Filtered Waste to the Main Drain due the difference in
Floor Level.

6. Podium Tanks Overflow and Scour Will directly be

discharge to Podium’s Main Drain due to High Volume
of Water Outgoing.
