BACKGROUND
• IN SMPN 2 KURAU, RESEARCHER FOUND THAT STUDENTS ARE LESS ACTIVE IN THE
CLASSROOM WHILE TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS AND ALSO HAVE A DIFFICULTIES
ON GRAMMAR, THEY CONFUSE ABOUT STRUCTURE, WHAT THE CONDITION AND THE
MEANING OF SENTENCES. THIS HAPPEN BECAUSE STUDENTS DO NOT HAVE MANY TIME TO
REPEAT THE MATERIAL WHILE TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS AND AFRAID TO ASK THE
TEACHER IN THE CLASS, SO THEY JUST SILENT AND CAN NOT EXPRESS THIER OPINION.
BECAUSE OF THE REASON ABOVE, THE TEACHER TRY MAKE STUDENTS ACTIVE IN WHILE
LEARNING AND TEACHING, AND DO SOMETHING THAT CAN INCREAS THEIR GRAMMAR
ABILITY, BY DOING A COOPERATIVE ACTIVITIES AND USE “TWO STAY TWO STRAY
STRATEGY” IN HER CLASS.
RESEARCH QUESTION
“TWO STAY TWO STRAY STRATEGY” IS THE THAT ONE OF THE CO-OPERATIVE
LEARNING MODELS. THIS STRATEGY IS BENEFICIAL FOR REVIEWING AND
INTEGRATING SUBJECT MATTERS. STUDENTS GET BENEFITS WHEN THIS STRATEGY
IS USED. AFTER DIRECT INSTRUCTION OF THE MATERIALS, THE GROUP SUPPORTS
EACH MEMBER AND PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR PRACTICE, REHEARSAL, AND
