WHAT IS FLOW OF CHARGE?

• a flow of charge is also called an electric current.

• where the SI unit for measuring an electric current is the

ampere, which is the flow of electric charge.

• flow of charge or electric current is measured using a device

called an ammeter.
videoplayback-8.3gp
An average current or flow of charge is found with the
following formula;
I= Q
t
where:
I-is the current
Q-is the charge; and
t-is the time
The unit of electric current is coulomb per second, and we
give specific name ampere (A).
Example:
If the steady current is 2.5 a flows in a wire for 5 minutes,
find the charge past in any point in the circuit.

Formula: Solution:
I=Q Q =I.t
t =(2.5C/s)(300s)
=750C
Therefore,
Q= 750 C
