Tooth carving
• Inform goals and objectives of conducting a particular exercise
• Inform of overall goal and objectives of the subject
• Inform difficulties that can be expected and give solutions beforehand
• Keep on changing the exercises to break the monotony.
Tooth carving is interesting
• Most students like carving and enjoy
• Few students who are not artistic feel it boring
• Such students can be identified and special attention can be given to
such students
• Raising and lowering standards depending upon the capability of a
student
• Raising standards for good students
• Lowering standards for average students so that they don’t lag behind
Dentistry is art and science
• It is art part that makes dentistry interesting and for few boring
• For less artistic students art part can be broken into small-small steps
and make it more science.
• As students gain confidence they improve their artistic skills.
Slides spotting
• Most boring
• Everything looks pink and blue
• Everything looks the same
• It can be made interesting by allowing students to explore the slides
• They are allowed to identify the structures by themselves
• Photo's of slides can be made available so that they can revise
frequently
• In exams rather than asking them to identify the slides, they can be
asked to identify the photos. (PBL)
• Exams can be based on OSPE pattern.
