Statute Law - Background to Federal Work Health Safety Act

 3 July 2008. All State and Territory governments signed an


 intergovernmental agreement to work cooperatively to harmonise
OHS laws by adopting a model OHS legislation by 2011

 31 October 2008. First report released. This set out the


fundamental building blocks of the proposed model OHS Act

 28 September 2009. Draft model Work Health and Safety Act


released

 9 November 2009. Draft model WHS Act closed for comment

 31 December 2011. All current OHS laws to be repealed.

 1st January 2012 enactment.
