How cara untuk menuju ke suatu tempat.
Example:
QUESTION ANSWER
How do you get to work? I usually go to work by bus
How do you get to school? I always go to school by motorcycle
Jika jawaban menggunakan Yes/No questions, maka pertanyaan diawali dengan kata
bantu: is, am, are (jika tidak ada kata kerja) dan do, does (jika ada kata kerja)
Example:
Is the bus station far from here?
Does this bus go to the market?

WH Question
(which, where, how long, etc.)
Which is the bus to Malioboro? Or Which bus goes to Malioboro ?
Where should I get off/in?
How long does it take to go to your work?
 Prohibitions (Larangan) and Suggestions (Saran)

Prohibitions

Merupakan language expression yang berisikan pesan kepada orang lain agar tidak
melakukan sesuatu yang dilarang atau diperkirakan berbahaya.
Cara mengungkapkan larangan (prohibitions) menggunakan Don’t + Verb (ada kata kerja)
atau Don’t + be (tidak ada kata kerja).

With Verb Without Verb

Don’t get in that bus, there are many Don’t be late, you will miss the rain
pick pockets Don’t be in a hurry, there are many buses
Don’t bring any luxurious thing with you there
 Suggestions

Merupakan language function yang berisikan saran atau nasihat kepada orang lain.
Example:
You had better wait for some moment, there are many buses to Bandung
You had better go there by bus, it only takes ten minutes and it is cheap
You should get in a bus number nine or eleven
You should wait at the other side, this side is going to the market
 ASKING AND GIVING DIRECTION

Asking
Untuk menanyakan sesuatu kepada orang lain dapat diawali dengan “Excuse me”.
Example: Excuse me, does this bus go to the station?

Meminta seseorang untuk memberi tahu kepada kita cukup dengan bentuk command (perintah).
Example: Tell me how to get there

Can, could dan would you like to dapat dipakai untuk menanyakan sesuatu kepada orang lain/
belum kenal/ orang yang dihormati untuk memberi tahu atau melakukan sesuatu kepada kita.
Example: Can you tell me where the nearest Post Office is?

Wh-Question adalah pertanyaan yang diawali dengan wh-Question/ Question-word question (kata
tanya, seperti: where, which,when)
Example: Where is the train station?
Giving Direction

Dalam menjawab pertanyaan tentang arah jalan (showing direction) bentuk kalimatnya
selalu dalam bentuk kalimat perintah (imperative), biasanya dilengkapi dengan sequence
markers seperti: First, Next, Then, After that, Finally

front of, in the back of, across from, close to

Untuk mengungkap arah jalan, gunakan kalimat perintah (imperative) dan sequence markers

- Turn Left
- Turn Right
- Follow the road to the crossroad
- Turn left and take the crossroad on the right
- Walk along to road until you get to

◍ Sequence Markers
- First, go…..
- Next, turn left and go…..
- Then, look for…..
- After that, cross…..
- Finally, walk…..
