Objectives:
Last week we looked at describing a general process or
procedure and also a specific or one-off process or
procedure. We also looked at how to give advice on how
a procedure should be done. This week we will look at
writing a physical description. Physical descriptions may
be required in a number of subjects and may cover
topics such as people, family relationships, occupations
and institutions, apparatus and equipment. We will look
specifically at describing countries in this unit.
General Description: Physical

When we describe physical things we use present


simple active verb forms and present simple passive
verb forms
e.g. iPhones have a number of features
iPhones are manufactured in China.
Running Dictation
• teams of 3
• On teachers word – two students go to the wall and memorize some
of the text
• On teachers word – return to the table and dictate the text.
• Once the text is done – write the name of the country on the white
board.
• First team with correct answer is winner.
