HEMODIALYSIS PATIENTS: A
SYSTEMATIC REVIEW
INTRODUCTION

 Chronic Kidney Disease CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis

(CKD) is a progressive process as much as two to three times a
chronic disease damages the week, each time hemodialysis average

systems. One treatment
option for patients with CKD
is hemodialysis (HD).
Hemodialysis is performed to
remove the remnants of
metabolism or toxicity of the
human circulatory system,
such as excess urea,
creatinine, uric acid, and
other substances through a
semipermeable membrane.
One of the most common complications are muscle cramps. It
can occur anywhere on the body, but are most common in the
calf muscles, feet, toes, thighs and abdomen. Almost all
patients complain of muscle cramps suddenly and most often
occurs usually in the calf muscles (Panchiri Manoj, et al,
2017).

Muscle cramps is a continuous contraction experienced by

a muscle or group of muscles and cause pain. cause muscle
cramps are too tired, lack of heating and stretching,
impaired blood circulation that leads to the muscles,
causing seizures.

Physical exercises such as stretching exercises is one of the

non-pharmacological therapies that can provide a positive
impact on the decline among muscle cramps can improve the
health and quality of life (Ms Lekha J., et al, 2017).

intradialytic stretching exercises in
patients with muscle cramps
DISCUSSION

Many of the effects of physical exercise that is used in the stretching exercises have been
carried out on samples to reduce muscle cramps and get the results that intradialytic
stretching exercises help reduce the rate of muscle cramps. From the overall physical
exercises performed most frequently performed stretching exercises.

Among hemodialysis patients one of the most common complications are muscle cramps. It
can occur anywhere in the body, but common in the calf muscles, feet, toes, thighs and
abdomen. This study shows that intradialytic stretching exercises is an effective
intervention for reducing muscle cramps during hemodialysis in patients Hemodialysis (R.
Danasu, 2016).

Stretching exercises regularly during the week will reduce the rate of muscle cramps and
also prevent cramps during hemodialysis. that the rate of muscle cramps among patients
undergoing hemodialysis is high. And thus intradialytic stretching exercises is an effective
intervention for reducing muscle cramps during hemodialysis among hemodialysis patients
and most patients undergoing hemodialysis have a significant level of muscle cramps
(Isaac Shyla, et al, 2016).
CONCLUSIONS

That patients with muscle cramps should do intradialytic

stretching exercises that can help to reduce cramping muscle.
Stretching exercises regularly during the week will reduce
the rate of muscle cramps and also prevent cramps during
hemodialysis
