“The Blood of Jesus”

Ephesians 1:7-12
“The Blood of Jesus”
1. Blood is an interesting biological property.
2. Normally, 7-8% of human body weight is from blood. In
adults, this amounts to 4-5 quarts of blood. This essential
fluid carries out the critical functions of transporting
oxygen and nutrients to our cells and getting rid of carbon
dioxide, ammonia, and other waste products. In addition,
it plays a vital role in our immune system and in
maintaining a relatively constant body
temperature. Blood is a highly specialized tissue
composed of many different kinds of components. Four
of the most important ones are red cells, white cells,
platelets, and plasma. All humans produce these blood
components--there are no populational or regional
differences.

proteins necessary to sustain life are those that
make up our blood.
4. Without blood this there is no life.
“ 4But flesh with the life thereof, which is the
blood thereof, shall ye not eat.” Genesis 9:4,
Leviticus 17:11,14.

I. The Enormity of Sin
A. No book in all the Bible clashes more violently
with the modern mind than the book of
Leviticus. “How did this book get into the
Bible?” one wonders.
B. Many will skip reading it, but it is one of the
most important books of the Bible because it
details the sacrificial system of the law of
Moses . It is filled with Priest, Sacrifices and
BLOOD, in that book of law, it was teaching the
exceeding sinfulness of sin - Romans 7:13
“The Blood of Jesus”
C. IT TEACHS THAT GOD AND SIN CANNOT MIX.
D. Sin contradicts God! It cannot be overlooked!
E. Every sin and every impenitent will be punished!
F. Sin cannot be excused even by divine decree –
the righteousness of God prevents it.
G. Sin’s sting is the sting of ETERNAL death.
I Corinthians 15:56
H. Forgiveness of Sin can ONLY come from the
Shedding of Blood – HEBREWS 9:22.

HEBREWS 9:22 “And according to the law almost all
things are purified with blood, and without shedding
of blood there is no remission.”
The law is our teacher to bring us to Christ, the final
and FULL offering for Sin, Galatians 3:22-29,
Romans 15:4, I Corinthians 10:11.
I. The old sacrificial system could not take away Sin.
Hebrews 10:4
J. Acts 15:8-11 - Man could not perfectly keep the
law, and man’s blood can not atone for man’s guilt.
God did for man what man could not do for
himself.

miss the fact that Jesus’ shedding His Blood is
the Center of Christianity.

Heaven that is always full, He died to fulfill the
Scriptures I Corinthians 15: 1-4.
“The Blood of Jesus”
However as I noted several sermons ago regarding this
Atoning process we don’t take it as serious as we
should;
• “…Light and erroneous views of the atonement
come from light and erroneous views of Sin. If sin is
regarded as merely an offence against man, a
weakness of human nature, a mere disease, rather
than a rebellion, transgression, and enmity against
God, therefore, something condemning and
punishable, we shall not, of course, see any
necessity for the atonement.”

do you not know that as many of us as were
baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His
death? “
“The Blood of Jesus”
“Therefore we were buried with Him through
baptism into death, that just as Christ was
raised from the dead by the glory of the
Father, even so we also should walk in
newness of life.

For if we have been united together in the

[in the likeness] of [His] resurrection,”
