underwater region found
east of Luzon (Pacific side)
The Philippines’ Submission for an
Extended Continental Shelf (ECS) in

the Benham Rise Region was adopted

by the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf
(CLCS) of the United Nations on April 12, 2012.
The ECS is part of that
seabed that extends beyond
200 nautical miles from
the country’s baseline.
