SAFETY INSPECTION
Identification of HAZARDS
Asses the potential losses of from these hazards
Select control measures to eliminate or reduce such
hazards
Monitor the effectiveness of the control measures
Review compliance with the standards( OSHS, PD
1096, RA 8495, PD 1185, Phil. Electrical Code,
other code and standards.
SAFETY INSPECTION
Primary Purpose:
To detect potential
hazards so they can be
corrected before an accident
occurs
To improve operations
and thus increase efficiency,
effectiveness, and profitability
SAFETY INSPECTION
Other purpose:
1. Periodic Inspection
2. Intermittent
Planned Inspection:
Periodic Inspection
Types
- Inspections by the safety professional,
industrial hygienist, and joint safety
and health committee
- Inspections performed by the electricians
mechanics, and maintenance personnel
- Inspections by especially trained certified or
licensed inspectors, often from outside the
organization
- Inspections done by outside investigators or,
government inspectors(EMSD)
Planned Inspection:
Intermittent inspection
Are those made at irregular intervals
- If there is unusual number of accidents
- When construction or remodeling is going on
- When the company install new equipment,
institutes new processes, or modifies old ones.
- Made by industrial hygienist when health
hazards is suspected

INSPECTION STEPS
- Preparation
- Inspect
- Develop Remedial Actions
- Prepare Inspection Report
- Take follow-up Actions
SAFETY INSPECTION
INSPECTION STEPS
Preparation
Start with a positive attitude
Plan the inspection
Prepare checklists
Know what to look for
Review previous inspection reports
Get tools and materials
SAFETY INSPECTION
INSPECTION STEPS
Inspect
Use floor plan and checklist
Accent the positive
Look for off-the-floor and out-of-the way items
Take necessary temporary actions
Describe and locate each item clearly
Classify the hazards
Report items that seem unnecessary
Determine the basic causes of substandard actions and
conditions
SAFETY INSPECTION
Inspect
NOTE: USE YOUR SENSES
Do you see anything that just doesn’t look right from a safety
point of view?
Do you hear any unusual vibrations or noises?
Do you smell any new or unusual odors?
Have you touched anything with an unusual or different feel?
SAFETY INSPECTION
INSPECTION STEPS
Develop Remedial Actions
Consider potential severity of loss
Evaluate the probability of a loss occurrence
Weigh various control alternatives
Assess the likely degree of a control to be achieved
Determine the cost of control
Justify the recommended control if major expenditures are
involved
SAFETY INSPECTION
INSPECTION STEPS
Take follow-up actions
Give recommendations
Monitor the given recommendations
Issue work order
Monitor the budgeting of resources
Ensure timely actions
Monitor activity progress
Check the effectiveness of
implemented controls
Give credit where credit is due
SAFETY INSPECTION
INSPECTION STEPS
Prepare Inspection Report
Write Clearly
Consecutively number the items
Classify each hazard
Leave space to add basic causes and remedial
actions for each item.
Make an honest assessment of fees
SAFETY INSPECTION
INSPECTION TIPS
Make Notes
Don’t Disturb
Be Constructive
Inspect all areas
Seek out the reasons
Advise the supervisors
Prepare recommendations
Technical Safety Inspection
TECHNICAL SAFETY
INSPECTION

to inspection for the purpose of safety
determination of boilers, pressure
vessels, internal combustion
engines, electrical installation,
elevators, hoisting equipment and
other mechanical equipment.
Who Can Conduct Technical
Safety Inspection?
The Department shall be the solely
responsible for the administration and
enforcement of occupational safety and
health laws in all workplaces.
