tissues.

clearing the air passageways.

The pharynx
The pharynx, also known as
throat, is a cone-shaped,
muscular passageway that is
about 13 cm (5 in) long and
located behind the nasal and
oral cavities.
It conducts air from the nasal
cavity to the larynx, and
receiving food from the mouth
allowing it to pass through the
esophagus.
