CAUSES OF HOMOSEXULITY
6 The causes of homosexuality and bisexuality are controversial
(people do not agree on them). Many religions see homosexual or
bisexual behavior as sin. Some religious people also see
homosexuality and bisexuality as a that a person makes.

6 However, many modern scientists have shown that homosexuality

is not a choice.
CAN HOMOSEXUAL BE CURED
TO HETROSEXUALS
6 Many scientists and doctors also agree that no one can
change their sexual orientation.

6 Doctors used to treat gay people as if they had mental

illnesses.

6 However, homosexuality is no longer called a disease

by doctors in many countries.

6 There are some religious groups who still try to 'cure'

homosexuality. This is called 'reparative therapy.' In
therapies like this one, homosexual individuals have
tried to change themselves and have even claimed they
were changed, but most people do not believe it is
possible.

cAn Abrahamic perspective
underlies Western society,
and it is precisely because of
the ingroup-outgroup
dichotomy that minorities
feel oppressed.

Yeed of Debate

c It has become a weapon in the hands of the police

to harass those who have alternative sexual
orientations.

c Governments must lead public opinion not tail its

least enlightened strands or go for the lowest
common denominator.

c AIDp and HIV would further spread and harm the

people

c Convictions are extremely rare, and in the last twenty

years there have been no convictions for homosexual
relations in India. However, Human Rights Watch
argues that the law has been used to harass HIV/AIDp
prevention efforts, as well as sex workers, men who
have sex with men, and other groups at risk of the
disease.

6 any people think of the lives of homosexual
people as emotionally unstable.

6 We promote shame and hopelessness about

sexual orientation and then complain when
people act out those feelings.
c Another very major issue
about our reaction to
homosexuality is that it
has to do with gender.

c some 1.7 percent of

humans are born with
bodies that are not
exclusively male or
female.

c Homosexaul is against

6 In the midst of all this negativity, it should be
remembered that gay people have long
offered society a rich heritage.

6 The society should not ignore homo sexual
6 Homo sexual should get right in the society

6 uch of the profound discomfort with
homosexuality vanishes when people
actually get to know gay people and couples.
It is when the situation becomes personal
that it becomes more human. However, for
some people, this is not enough. Fear
continues. Then one must ask, "Why am I so
afraid?"
