CHARGAFF’S RULE OF BASE

PAIRING & TYPES OF RNA

Presented by:
Group 15
CHARGAFF’S RULE

 It states that
 In DNA the amount of adenine equals to the amount thymine and the amount of guanine is
equal to the amount of cytosine
 The composition of DNA varied from one specie to another
CHARGAFF’S RULE

 There are many naturally occurring purines. They include the

nucleobases adenine (2) and guanine (3). In DNA,
these bases form hydrogen bonds with their complementary
pyrimidines, thymine and cytosine, respectively.
TYPES OF RNA

 There are 3 types of RNA, each encoded by its own type of gene
 Messenger RNA
 Transfer RNA
 Ribosomal RNA
TYPES OF
RNA
TYPES OF RNA

 mRNA - Messenger RNA: Encodes amino acid sequence of a polypeptide.

 tRNA - Transfer RNA: Brings amino acids to ribosomes during translation.
 rRNA - Ribosomal RNA: With ribosomal proteins, makes up the ribosomes, the organelles
that translate the mRNA.
