Characteristics of angiosperms :
• Angiosperms are commonly known as flowering plants.
• Roots, stems and leaves are present.
• Their seeds are protected by an ovary wall.
• Their vascular tissues are highly developed.
- Xylem has vessels and tracheids
- Phloem has sieves tubes and companion cells
• The sporophyte generation is dominant while the gametophyte
generation is reduced.
• They are heterosporous – produce two types of spores
-microspore (pollen grain)
-megaspore (ovum)
• Angiosperms undergo sexual reproduction.
• The reproductive organ is flower.
• The agent of pollination are animals or wind.
