 Feed trough Width 8inches, cover whole wall
length , 6inches deep, rounded bottom, inner
wall slanted at 45degrees. water trough at the
dunging area- open section.
 Each pen should drain to the out side
individually
 Floor should be rough .
 Doors should face way from the wind
direction.

 This is one of the most important aspects of pig
farming, takes up to 80% of costs.
 Well fed pigs grow fast hence go to the market
at the right time about 7 months of age.
 Poorly fed pigs grow slowly and take long in
the farm hence not economical to the farmer.
 We do not buy age but weight of the pig.

 Good farmers have breeding sows for breeding
purpose- the best for sustainability.
 One boar can service up to 10- 15 sows
adequately but must be fed well.
 At least 10 piglets must survive per litter for it
to be economical.

 Iron injection 2nd/3rd day of piglets life.
 Teeth clipping as you give iron injection

 Creep feeding from 7 days old.
 Castrate males at 1month of age.
 Wean piglets at 2 months.
 Deworm at 2 months and every other two
months

 Tourism ( local and international) plays a major
role in products demand hence enhances pig
market.
 Company buys pigs that meet set standards.
 Farmer is encouraged to deliver his pigs to the
factory.
 Company buys cold dressed carcass weight,
not as per age, not live weight. Whole carcass is
weighed.

 Payment is prompt always in the second day
after slaughter
 Farmer can request for cash, Cheque, or direct
bank transfer. This is the best you do not need
to come to the office.
 Heavy pigs will always give good money but
small pigs will always be a loss to you and the
company.

 Best weight for selling pigs is 70kg cdw.
 Weight range is 56kg to 85kg cdw and above.
200/=to 190/= per kg depending on grade.
 86kg to 100kg cdw 165/= per kg
 50to 55kg cdw165/= per kg
 40kg to 49kgcdw 140/= per kg
 101 to 120kgcdw 155/= per kg
 Above 120kg cdw 140/=per kg
