Apparatus and
Equipment
Analytical Balance
Measures mass to a high degree of
precision and accuracy. A class of
balance designed to measure small
mass in the sub milligram range (up
to 520 g)
Beaker
A simple container for stirring,
mixing and heating liquids. Very
poor accuracy, should be used to
estimate volume.
Beaker Tongs
Used to handle hot or
cold beakers.
Bunsen Burner
Used for heating
nonvolatile liquids and
solids.
Burette
A graduated glass tube with a tap at
one end, for dispensing variable
amount of a chemical solution and
measuring that amount at the same
time.
Dropper
Erlenmeyer Flask
Florence Flask
Forceps
A handheld tool used for grasping
and holding objects especially
during delicate operations.
Funnel
Iron Clamp
Iron Ring
An equipment used to support apparatus above
work surface, for example: a wire gauze put on
the iron ring can be used to support beakers while
being heated by alcohol lamp.
Iron Stand
Pipette
A tool used to measure and
transport liquids from and to
containers.
Platform Balance
Rubber Stopper
A laboratory tool used in
combination with either flasks,
test tubes or reagent bottles to
prevent the substances inside
these containers from flowing out.
Safety Goggles
A protective eyewear used to
protect the eyes and the area
surrounding it from particles or
liquids that may strike and bring
harm to the eyes.
Spatula
Stirring Rod
A rod made of glass which is used
to mix solutions.
Test Tube
Thermometer
A laboratory instrument used to
measure the temperature.
Tongs
Tripod
A three-legged platform made of
lightweight metal for easier portability
used to support or hold beakers or
flasks.
Volumetric Flask
A laboratory glassware, also known
as graduated flask, used for more
precise measurements of liquids.
Watch Glass
A circular, concave glass used to
evaporate liquids and for
covering beakers.
Wire Gauze
A sheet made of thin metal which are
arranged in net-like crosses. Wire
gauze is put on top of iron ring in iron
stands to support beakers or flasks
put on top of it from direct flame
coming from Bunsen burners or
alcohol lamps.
