Lipoprotins componts

Lipids :- Are compounds including fatty acid tri-acyl

glycerol phospholipids, glycolipids, sphingo lipids, steroids
and vitamins ADEK.
Proteins:- are compounds contains of sequences of amino
acid .
Lipoproteins:- are molecular complexes that contain of
lipids and proteins they function as transport vehicles for
lipids in blood plasma
Lipid Structure
Structure of lipoprotein
 Hydrophobic lipids in the core amphilic lipids and
proteins on the surface .
 Each contains different kinds and amounts of lipids and
proteins .
 The more protein, the higher the density.
 The more lipid, the lower the density.
Each has different function.
Low Density lipoproteins (LDLs)

 Low Density lipoproteins (LDLs) are the principal

transporter of cholesterol and fat in human blood.
 Circulating LDLs guarantee a constant supply of cholesterol
for tissues and cells, whereas cholesterol is required for
membrane synthesis, modulation of membrane fluidity and
the regulation of cell signaling pathways.
Function of LDL in Cell

 The function of LDL in metabolism is mediating by

cellular uptake via receptor-mediated endocytosis
followed by lysosomal degradation ,and is strongly
dependent on the lipid distribution, the structure of
LDL particles and on the proper conformational
orientation of apolipoprotein.
Metabolism of LDL

Modification of Low Density lipo protein primarily

through oxidation enzymatic degration or lipolysis in liver
.
LDL specifically binds to LDL respectors ( LDLRs) on
clathrin- coated pits.
The complex iternalized as intact particles by
endocytosis.
The vesicles. Forming large vesicle called endosome.

The low pH of endosome, allowing separation of the LDL

from its receptors.

The receptors can be returned to the cell membrane. The

lipoprotein remnants to the cell membrance. The lipoprotein
remnants are hydrolyzed by lysosomal enzymes releasing
cholesterol, amino acids, fatty acids and phospholipids.
Summary
Site of synthesis : circulation from VLDL.
The primary funcation of LDL particles is to provide
cholesterol to the peripheral tissues.
Deposition of free cholesterol on cell membrance
By binding to receptors on cell membranes that
recognize apo B100.
Most core lipid in LDL is cholesterol ester.
ApB100 is only apolipotein in the surface.
