Conjunction

Conjunctions (kata pengubung) merupakan bagian dari part of speech yang


digunakan untuk menggabungkan dua kata, dua frasa, atau dua klausa dalam
atau menjadi satu kalimat utuh.

Examples
1. He is hungry.
2. He is tired.

He is hungry and tired.

So shows reason (alasan).

Examples of two verbs joined by coordinate conjunction


1. He only eats and sleeps when he takes a vacation.
2. She invites us to her home but never talks with us.
3. You can stay home or go to the movies with us.
Examples of two adjectives joined by coordinate conjunction
1. My boss is sincere and nice.
2. The examination that he gave was short but difficult.
3. Class can be interesting or boring.

Examples of two phrases joined by coordinate conjunction


1. There are students in the classroom and in front of the building.
2. The papers are on my desk or in the drawer.
3. The checks will be ready not at noon but at 1:00.

Examples of two clauses joined by coordinate conjunction


1. They are not interested in what you say or what you do.
2. I am here because I have to be and because I want to be

A comparison showing how two things are different from the –er than
or the more….than.
1. My school is farther than your school.

A comparison showing how two things are the same might contain as … as
or expressions such as the same as or similar to.
2. The work that I did is similar to the work that you did.
