Standards for Mathematical Practice

• The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) establish

guidelines for Mathematics instruction. CCSS-aligned
math standards focus on learning math skills and
concepts in the context of solving real-world problems.
At each grade, students are expected to not only
develop an understanding of content standards, but
also develop key behaviors outlined in the Standards
for Mathematical Practice.
• Common Core mathematics asks students to justify
why a particular mathematical statement is true or
where a mathematical rule comes from. Mathematical
understanding and procedural skill are equally
important in CCSS

Practice 8:
Using Practice 1(Problem):
Represent and solve problems
involving addition and subtraction.
Use addition and subtraction within 1000 to solve word problems
involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking
apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions

Solving problem:
by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown
number to represent the problem.
We can represent addition and subtraction with objects, fingers, mental images,
drawings, sounds (e.g., claps), or acting out situations.
Using Practice 4(Problem):
Recognize math and know to solve problem.
Relate counting to addition and subtraction (e.g., by counting on 2 to add 2)

Use manipulative or visual representations to indicate the number that results

when adding one more

Apply knowledge of “one less” to subtract one from a number.

Use strategies such as counting on; making ten

(e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14);
decomposing a number leading to a ten
(e.g., 13 – 4 = 13 – 3 – 1 = 10 1 = 9);
using the relationship between addition and subtraction
(e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 – 8 = 4)
Weakness
• Teacher dint show student from the basic n
easy question.
• Student face problem with the sentence and
don’t know how to asnwer to find the way for
solving the problem.
• Student can’t get the full marks on the 3
marks question.
Strength
• Power point is so attractive and colourful.
• Student will interest to use power point and
group disscusion.
• Teacher give reward for the student who can
answer the question.
Suggested Implementation
• Guide student from the basic problem solving.
• Give more example on the KBAT question.
• Ask student to memorize the key words which
show them add,minus,multiple or division.
*total + , left - , each group ÷
• Always remember student to check the final
answer.
