CARBOHYDRATES
Carbohydrates or sugars are molecules whose main
function is to provide the energy that the body needs.
These nutrients are the immediate source of energy for
the body, because it quickly unfolds forming glucose, the
main source of energy.
PROTEINS

They are the fundamental material for the construction

and repair of our tissues, although they also perform other
important functions

The human can not synthesize 8 of the 20 necessary

amino acids and neds to obtain them from diferents
foods.
THE LIPIDS
They constitute the reserve energy for our organism par
excellence. Although more rare than carbohydrates, fats
produce more than twice as much energy.

The lipid provide energy when energy provided by

carbohydrates is insufficient.

They are classified in:

• Saturated fats
• Unsaturated fats
VITAMINS
They are the substances that we need in small quantities, but
whose lack in the diet cause various diseases. The majority
of them can not be synthesized by our organism, therefore
they must be taken in the diet.

• Vitamin A: Helps growth and vision, prevents the good

condition of the skin and eyes. It is found in carrots,
vegetables, etc.
• Vitamin B: Helps the nervous system, digestion and growth.
It is found in meats, cereals, etc.
• Vitamin C: Strengthens muscles and gums and gives
resistance to diseases. It is found in oranges, tomatoes, etc.
• Vitamin D: Strengthens bones, teeth and prevents rickets. It
is found in fish, eggs, etc.

CONCLUSIONS
• To obtain good health it is very important to eat nutritious foods for our organism, since
these give us energy and vitality to develop the activities that are presented daily.

• Nutrients are the substances we need for the proper functioning of our body and are
obtained from food.

• Nutrients fulfill three important functions: energy, plastic and regulatory.
