INTRODUCTION

 At present, handicapped people face much difficulty

in moving the vehicle back.

 So we are providing a reverse gear mechanism in

scooter for physically challenged person.
CONVENTIONAL REVERSE GEAR
MECHANISM

 It is mainly consists of gear box assembly, v-belt &

v-pulley and sprocket. In the gear box it hoses a
gear (helical) and pinion (helical) which is keyed to
the corresponding shaft and outside of the gear
box the v-pulley is attached to the gear shaft.
 When the clutch is pressed the main drive is
disengaged and it engaged to the gear box pulley
by means of v belt drive.
 Then power is transmitted from the engine to the
gear box pulley. Reversing of the vehicle is
obtained because of an intermediate gear is
introduced between these two gears.

 Weight-103kg
 8bhp at 7500rpm
 8.74Nm at 5500rpm
BENDIX
 It is a type of engagement mechanism used in
starter motors.
 The device allows the pinion gear of the starter
motor to engage or disengage the flywheel of the
engine.
 Gear Ratio -3
Operation
 The bendix system places the starter drive pinion on
a helical drive spring.
 When the motor begins turning, the inertia of the
drive pinion assembly causes it to wind the spring
 When the engine starts, backdrive from the ring
gear causes the drive pinion to exceed the rotative
speed of the starter,at which point the drive pinion
is forced back and out of mesh with the ring gear.
GEAR WHEEL
 A gear or cogwheel is a rotating machine part having
cut teeth, or cogs, which mesh with another toothed part to
transmit torque.
 Geared devices can change the speed, torque, and direction
of a power source

MOTOR
SPECIFICATION
 0.3kW
 No of teeths -9
 5Nm at 90rpm
 300gm
 10cm length
WORKING PRINCIPLE
Self motor
battery flywheel

Relay with
switch

motor bendix Gear wheel tyre

MECHANISM
 Self motor provides the required power to the gear
wheel through the bendix from the battery.
 Power is transmiited continuously by the continues
pressing of the self switch.
 Required rpm at the wheel is obtained by using a
reduction gear wheel with the given specification

MERITS
 Simple to implement
 Less Expensive
 Maintenance and easy inspection
 Easy to operate
