A WIRELESS IOT TOWARDS

GAIT DETECTION

UNDER THE GUIDENCE OF

PROJECT DISCRIPTION:

• Gait monitoring through the Internet of Things (IOT) is able to

provide an overall assessment of daily living. All existing systems
for predicting abnormality in gait mainly consider the gait related
parameters. Their accuracy is limited because consequences due to
injuries are significantly affected by different events in the gait. The
objective of this study is to present a multisensory system that
investigates walking patterns to predict a cautious gait in stroke
patient. For this study, a Smartphone built-in sensor and an IoT-shoe
with a Wi-Fi communication module is used to discreetly monitor
insole pressure and accelerations of the patient’s motion. To the best
of our knowledge, we are the first to use the gait spatiotemporal
parameters implemented in smart phones to predict a cautious gait in
a stroke patient. The proposed system can warn the user about their
abnormal gait and possibly save them from forthcoming injuries
from fear of falling.

Main components:

• Micro controller (arduino)

• Regulated power supply.
• Buzzer.
• Piezeo Sensor.
• LCD Display And LED Indicators.
• UART.
• ADC.
• GPS System.
• Accelerometer sensor.
FEARTURES:
Mіcrоcоntrоllеr based Highly reliable control
system
GSM Modem for remote communication .
LCD Display to display the current status.
LED indicators to indicate the individual device
status.
MICRO CONTROLLER:

• The ATmega328 is a single chip micro-

controller created by Atmel and belongs to the
mega AVR series .
• It consists of 32 kb of Flash Memory, 1 kb
EEPROM and 2 kb SRAM.
• It has 23 general purpose I/O lines, 32 general
purpose working registers.
ARDUINO UNO:
 The Uno is a microcontroller board based on the
ATmega328P.
 It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as
PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs
 A 16 MHz quartz crystal, a USB connection, a power jack, an
ICSP header and a reset button.
 It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller;
simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it
with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started..
REGULATED POWER SUPPLY
 Every embedded system requires dc voltage and that that will
be 12v supply
 We are getting 230v, 50 Hz in our house hold applications.
We can be used to operate the home appliances like T.V,
cooler, fan, light’s
 Digital electronic devices need digital supply and we can
get supply from regulated power supply block

LCD DISPLAY

 A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a thin, flat electronic

visual display that uses the light modulating properties
of liquid crystals.

 Liquid crystal display is very important device in

embedded system. It offers high flexibility to user as he
can display the required data on it.

 These are used in a wide range of applications,

including computer monitors, television, instrument
panels, aircraft, cockpit displays, signage, etc

LED INDICATORS

 Led indicators have a life of at least ten years and

consume 90 per cent less power than conventional indicators.

 Depending on the type of the materials (Ga,As,p) led will

gives the output in different colors (red, Yellow, green etc..)

 LED’s emitted low-intensity red light, but modern versions are

available across the visible, ultraviolet and infrared wavelengths,
with very high brightness.

 LED’s are used as indicator lamps in many devices, and are

increasingly used for lighting. Introduced as a practical
electronic component
ADVANTAGES OF LED
Long life : Lifetimes can exceed 100,000 hours, as compared to
1,000 hours for tungsten bulbs

Robustness : No moving parts, no glass

Size : Typical package is only 5 mm in diameter

Energy efficiency : Up to 90% less energy used translates into

smaller power supply required

Versatility : Available in a variety of colors

Applications of led

• Medical Instrumentation
• Bar Code Readers
• Color & Money Sensors
• Electronic Gadgets
• Encoders
• Optical Switches
• Embedded systems
• Fiber Optic Communication
ADVANTAGES OF THIS ROJECT:

• Low power Requirement.

• Automatic Indication Using LED.
• Works anywhere in the world using RFID
technology.
• Automatic and secured access control system
DISADVANTAGES OF THIS ROJECT:

• Interfacing RFID reader with microcontroller is

highly sensitive.
APPLICATIONS

• This system can be practically implemented in

real time at places where security is a concern
like banks, schools, hospitals, colleges etc..,
CONCLUSION

• Integrating features of all the hardware

components used have been developed in it.
Presence of every module has been reasoned
out and placed carefully, thus contributing to
the best working of the unit. Secondly, using
highly advanced IC’s with the help of growing
technology, the project has been successfully
implemented. Thus the project has been
successfully designed and tested.
RESULT:
• In this project A Wireless IOT System Towards
Gait Detect in Stroke Patients was designed
such that automatic toll gate accessing can be
controlled using RFID technology. This system
was completely automated security access
system for domestic and industrial
applications.
