Case Presentation

Background
• My client is a caucasian male named
Dewayne, he is age 22. He is a student at
UNCP, and is majoring in Business and
Administration. Dewayne has three step
sisters and two half brothers. He identified
himself as gay, when he was a freshman or
sophmore in high school, but he said that it
was something that he knew at a young age.
Problem Statement
• Dewayne said that he experiences bouts of
depression and stress.

• Has a strong sense of who he is as a person
• He is engaged in many Social activities
• He’s an advocate for the LGBTQ community
• Limitations
• Does not get a lot of down time
• Has a shaky support group
Conceptual Framework
• The Conceptual Framework that I used was
the practice theory
Assessment Goals
• More self-care
• Strengthen Support System
Intervention/timeframes
• Intervention-Journal or paint whenever
depression or stress occurs.
• Timeframe: two to three weeks.
Questions
What are some biases you had going into the
interview? I had no biases prior to the
interview.
What were some value differences between you
and the client? Value differences between me
and the client. I’m Christian, He’s agnostic. Im
straight, he’s gay. I’m African American, he’s
white.

them into the person they are?

• What is the staff recommendation about their
eiagnosis, intervention, or treatment. Their
was nothing recommended.

• Whst does research say on their diagnosis,
problem/treatment? According to research
there is a connection between stress and
depression, and both can lead to illness.
• What changes do recommend for the agency
or service (Needs of agency, changes, and
rights issues)? Report those to supervisor.
• Have a professional Social Worker, or
Psychiatrist working in the office.
