Tenses are verb forms that show time.

• For action that is ongoing at the moment of writing.
• For scheduled events in the future.

Present Perfect Tense
• For action begun in the past that has been completed or is
ongoing.

Present Perfect Continuous Tense
• For action begun in the past and continuing in to the present.

She has been writing a letter. She has not been writing a letter. Has she been writing a letter?
Simple Past Tense
• For a finished action.

Past Continuous Tense
• For ongoing or repeated actions in the past.

• For actions completed in the past.

• For an ongoing or repeated action occuring in the past and

• For action that will happen once in the future.

• For actions that will be completed before another action in the

Future Perfect Continuous Tense
• For a continuing action that will be completed by a specified time
in the future.
