Fifth Grade MATH
Math class will continue with the Everyday Math program
at grade level. Fifth grade math focuses heavily on the
ability to solve problems. Math instruction is multi-
dimensional with continued use of manipulatives, as
appropriate, to enhance concept development.

MATHEMATICS
Fifth Grade MATH
*flexible groupings at the 5th grade level

• Major content areas are:


– Operations number facts, order relations, and number
systems – review of algorithms and procedures for
addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole
numbers, and computation of decimals and fractions
– Measurement – customary and metric
– Geometry and spatial sense – lines, angles, congruence,
coordinate systems, reference frames, shapes and
solids, area, perimeter and volume
– Sequences, patterns and functions – classifications,
missing elements, variables
– Statistics – tables, graphs, probability, mean, median,
mode, and range
– Algebra – use of variables, exponents/square roots
