Introduction
Vegetable preferences are defined as degree of like or dislike against vegetables. Preferences have an important
influence in the selection of foods that will be consumed by children and the selection of their favorite foods in the
future. The purpose of this study was to determine description of individual characteristics (gender and vegetable
knowledge), food characteristics (assessment of taste, color, texture, cooking process, shape and spices) and
environmental characteristics (parental preferences, availability of vegetables at home and availability of vegetables at
school) and determine relationship between individual characteristics (gender and vegetable knowledge) and
environmental characteristics (parental preferences, availability of vegetables at home and availability of vegetables at
school) with vegetable preferences among 4th and 5th grader students of Madrasah Pembangunan UIN Jakarta 2017.
