 Today ventilation, heating and air-conditioning systems

are very important elements for providing passenger


comfort. The large number of vehicle with air
conditioning to service the systems makes a basic
knowledge of air-conditioning system.
 The ventilation system is to provide outside air to the
passenger compartment. In this the ram air flows into
the car when it is moving. When the car is not moving, a
steady flow of ram air can be produced by the heater
fan.
 It has been designed to handle with cooling system. The
primary function is to provide comfortable temperature.
The primary components of the system are Heat core,
Heater control valve, the blower motor and the fan.
 Mechanical Engineering without production and
manufacturing is meaningless and inseparable. Production
and manufacturing process deals with conversion of raw
materials inputs to finished products as per required
dimensions, specification and efficiently using recent
technology. The new developments and requirements
inspired us to think of new improvements in air conditioning
Engineering field.
 Nowadays heater as well as cooler is available in market
separately. Hence we decided to take over both applications
in a same system. It’s a new step ahead in air conditioning
Engineering field.
 Our project fulfilled all our requirements as our
thoughts. Heater can be used in winter and cooler in
summer. Hence it is a multipurpose project.

 The compressor is heart of automotive AC
system. It separates the high pressure and low
pressure sides of the system.
 The primary function is to draw the low
pressure and low temperature vapor from the
evaporator and compress this vapor into high-
temperature, high pressure vapor.
 The secondary function is to circulate the
refrigerant through the AC system
 It is driven by the engines crankshaft via a
drive belt.
 The purpose of condenser is to condense the
high pressure, high temperature vapor coming
from the compressor
 The condenser consists of coiled refrigerant
tubing mounted in series of thin cooling fins
 It is achieved when the refrigerant vapor enters
the inlet of condenser and hot vapor passes
down to the condenser coil
 This process causes a large quantity of heat to
be transferred to the outside air and the
refrigerant to change from a high-pressure hot
vapor to high-pressure warm liquid
 It consists of a refrigerant coil mounted in a
series of thin cooling fins. Upon receiving
refrigerant dryer, heat from the core surface is
lost to the boiling and vaporizing refrigerant
which is cooler than the core, thereby; cooling
the core.
 The air passing over the evaporator loses its
heat to cooler surface of the core, there by
cooling the air inside the car.
 It controls the flow of coolant into the heater
core from the engine
 In a closed position, the valve allows no flow of
hot coolant to the heater core, keeping it cool.
In an open position, allow heated coolant to
circulate through the heater core
 The blower motor is located in heater housing
assembly, it is used to ensure air circulate
throughout the system
 The major components of our project are already discussed
above chapters. The motor is coupled with impeller blades.
 The motor runs during the air cooler button ON, the impeller
blades starts rotating. The water pump is used to circulate the
water to the blower unit.
 The forced air is flow through the water which is sprayed by
water pump, so that the cold air produced.
 The switch control is used to ON/OFF solar air collar circuit
and heater circuit.
 Adoption of energy efficient heat recovery devices like air to
air heat exchangers is to pre cool the fresh air by indirect
heat exchange; control of relative humidity through indirect
heat exchange rather than use of duct heaters after chilling.
 Adopting of variable air volume systems; adopting of
sun film application for heat reflection; optimizing
lighting loads in the air conditioned areas.
 This system is usually economical if small variations in
temperature are acceptable. This system has the added
advantage of allowing the chillers to be operated at
periods of low electricity demand to reduce peak
demand charges. Low tariffs offered by some electric
utilities for operation at nighttime can also be taken
advantage of by using a storage facility.
 An added benefit is that lower ambient temperature at
night lowers condenser temperature and thereby
increases the COP.
 The Heater consists of heating element and single phase
power supply. The single phase power supply is given to
the heating coil, so that the coil produces hot flame. This
hot flame is rashly forced out by the blower.
 Simple in construction
 This system is noiseless in operation
 It is portable, so it can be transferred easily from one place to
other place
 Maintenance cost is low

 By adding control circuit, we can maintain the room


temperature at required level.
 In the busy world of today comfort plays a very
important role in a man’s life. Depending on the
nature of the load, it is economical to provide a
chilled water storage facility with very good cold
insulation.
 An added benefit is that lower ambient
temperature at night lowers condenser
temperature and thereby increases the COP. In the
olden days men had to adjust to the surroundings
but in modern life, our project developed a lot that
surroundings adjust to the men’s needs, i. e
passenger comfort.
