• Lagu “Bulan Sabit Merah” untuk pertama kalinya telah dimainkan pada
tahun 1975 dalam satu majlis sempena penukaran nama persatuan dari
Pertubuhan Palang Merah Malaysia (Malaysian Red Cross Society) kepada
Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia (Malaysian Red Crescent Society).

• Kini, berdasarkan keputusan Mesyuarat Majlis Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia

(BSMM) kali ke-116 pada 25 Mac 2007, persatuan ini lagi sekali melalui
penjenamaan semula dan dinamakan sebagai Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia
(Malaysian Red Crescent) atau secara ringkasnya disebut BSMM.

• Menunjukkan bahawa orang-orang atau objek-objek berkaitan
adalah berkaitan dengan Pergerakan Palang Merah atau Bulan
Sabit Merah (tanda pengenalan)
