Artificial Neural Network (ANN)
 ANN is a computational model in view of the structure and elements of natural
neural systems.
 Data that moves through the system influences the structure of the ANN in light of
the fact that a neural system changes - or learns, as it were -which depends upon the
input and output supplied to it.
 A manufactured neural system is an interconnected gathering of nodes, much the
same as the immense system of neurons in our mind.
 Here, every roundabout node speaks to a its counterfeit neuron and arrow speaks to
an association from the yield of one neuron to the contribution of another.
 ANNs are viewed as nonlinear measurable information displaying devices where the
unpredictable connections amongst data sources and yields are demonstrated or
designs are found.
 Neural systems are in charge of a significant number of the current advances in
manmade brainpower, including voice acknowledgment, picture acknowledgment,
and mechanical technology.
 ANNs have three layers that are interconnected.
 The principal layer comprises of information neurons.
 Those neurons send information on to the second layer, which then sends the yield
neurons to the third layer.
Biological Neuron
 A common neuron comprises of the accompanying four sections:
1. Dendrites
2. Soma
3. Axon
4. Synapses
 Model of Artificial Neural Network
 Here output is calculated by using the activation function over the total input.
Y= F(yin)
Output = function (total input)
 Network Topology : According to network topology, ANN can be classified in
following types :
1. Feedforward Network
2. Feedback Network
 Feedforward Network is a non-repetitive system having preparing units/hubs in
layers and every one of the hubs in a layer are associated with the hubs of the past
layers.
 Feedback Network is based upon the different feedback paths which means that
signal will flow in both the directions until it reaches equilibrium state.

Classification of Learning in ANN
 Supervised Learning
 Unsupervised Learning
 Reinforcement Learning

 Supervised Learning- As the name recommends, this kind of learning is done under
the supervision of an instructor. This learning procedure is needy.
 Unsupervised Learning- As the name recommends, this sort of learning is managed
without the supervision of a teacher. This learning process is autonomous.
 Reinforcement Learning-As the name proposes, this kind of learning is utilized to
fortify or reinforce the system over some commentator data. This learning procedure
is like administered adapting, be that as it may we may have less data.
Advantages
 With the assistance of neural systems, we can discover the arrangement of such
issues for which algorithmic strategy is costly or does not exist.
 Neural systems can learn by case, subsequently we don't have to program it at much
degree.
 Neural systems have the exactness and fundamentally quick speed than regular
speed.
 ANN takes information tests instead of whole informational indexes to land at
arrangements, which spares both time and cash.
 ANNs are considered genuinely straightforward scientific models to improve existing
information examination innovations.
Application Areas
 Followings are a portion of the zones, where ANN is being utilized. It proposes that
ANN has an interdisciplinary approach in its advancement and applications.
 Speech Recognition
 Character Recognition
 Signature Verification Application
 Human Face Recognition
