LTE-SAE System architecture
 An evolved core network, the Evolved Packet Core is at the same time
developed, which generally is called System Architecture Evolution.
 The philosophy of the SAE is to focus on the packet-switched domain,
and migrate away from the circuit-switched domain

There are many ways to commission an eNodeB, such as USB, U2000, and MML.
However, the MML is a basic way to commission an eNodeB. After obtaining the steps
for commissioning an eNodeB using MML commands, you will have a whole
commissioning logical map that helps you troubleshoot and analyze eNodeB problems.
From this slide, you will learn the steps for commissioning an eNodeB and the MML
commands used for commissioning an eNodeB.

Add Cabinet (ADD CABINET)

Use this command to add a cabinet

If the this is a site existing no need to add Cabinet.

Before adding a cabinet, run the LST CABINET command to check whether the cabinet has been
added. If the cabinet is not added, add it.

Add Subrack (ADD SUBRACK)

Use this command to add a BBU subrack or an RFU subrack. This command is not
applicable to other types of subracks. Those subracks are added automatically while
the devices are added

 Cabinet No. Meaning: Indicates the cabinet number of the subrack

 Subrack No. Meaning: Indicates the number of the subrack
 Subrack Type Meaning: Indicates the type of the subrack.
 Subrack Description Meaning: Indicates a brief description of the subrack, which
can be the function, location, and some other information of the subrack.

Add Board (ADD BRD)

If the baseband processing board is an LBBP, the working mode must be FDD, TDD, TDD_ENHANCE,
TDD_8T8R, TDD_TL, or FDD_ATG.

Add RRU Chain/Ring (ADD RRUCHAIN)
Use this command to add an RRU chain/ring before adding an RRU on the chain/ring

Note:
1. Before adding the RRU chain/ring, ensure that the CPRI port on the baseband processing board of the RRU
chain/ring is not used by any other RRU chain/ring.
2. The backup mode of a ring can be hot backup only when the head and tail of the ring are different interface
boards.
3. When an RRU chain/ring is added, the number of breakpoints is zero by default. Before adding an RRU or RFU,
breakpoints must be configured on the chain/ring. For details, see the MOD RRUCHAIN command.
4. CPRI-related alarms will be generated when the configured CPRI line rate differs from the current rate. If the
whole ring/chain supports the configured CPRI line rate, the line rate will be synchronized in 2 minutes and the
CPRI-related alarms will be cleared. After setting the CPRI line rate, you can run the DSP CPRIPORT command to
check the setting result. If the setting fails or the setting result is not the expected rate, you need to reset the
CPRI line rate after checking the optical modules, baseband processing boards, and RRU capability.
5. In the LampSite network, the chain between the pRRU and RHUB is configured by running the ADD RRUCHAIN
command. The chain between the RHUB and BBU is not used.

OM Channel Automatic Establishment and
DHCP Relay
Set OM Channel Automatic Establishment Switch (SET
DHCPSW)
Use this command to enable or disable detection of
automatic establishment of the remote maintenance
channel and to enable or disable VLAN scanning in the
detection state.
If this parameter is set to DISABLE on an eNodeB, the eNodeB attempts to recover the faulty remote maintenance channel based on the current
transmission configurations. If the remote maintenance channel fails due to modification of the transmission configurations of the peer end, the remote
maintenance channel cannot be reestablished. Therefore, execute caution when setting this parameter to DISABLE.

Set Ethernet Port (SET ETHPORT)

Note:
PA/Port Attribute: Indicates whether an Ethernet port is an electrical port or optical port.
When the system starts, the system binds an Ethernet port to an optical port preferentially
if the default value of the port attribute is AUTO.
Configurations of Port Attribute, Maximum Transmission Unit, Speed, and Duplex must be
negotiated with the customer.

Set Transmission Link Fault Recover Switch
(SET TLFRSWITCH)

Note:
The Transmission Link Fault Recover Switch parameter indicates whether to enable the function
of rectifying faults on a transmission link. If this parameter is set to ENABLE, the eNodeB attempts
to rectify a fault by automatic reset when the OMCH of the eNodeB is disconnected and the service
interruption duration reaches 45 minutes. If the fault fails to be rectified, the eNodeB attempts to
rectify the fault again in the same way when the service interruption duration reaches 480 minutes.
If the fault fails to be rectified after the two resets, the eNodeB stops performing automatic reset.
The service interruption duration at which the eNodeB automatically resets has fixed values (45
minutes and 480 minutes) and cannot be configured.
You can set this parameter to DISABLE if the BBU software version is fixed to prevent eNodeB reset
due to transmission link interruption.

Add Device IP Address (ADD DEVIP)

Use this command to add a device IP address.

The IP addresses, including the control plane IP address, user plane IP address and OM
IP address, must be negotiated with the customer.

Add S1 Configuration (ADD S1)

Use this command to add an S1 object.

Before adding an S1 object, ensure that the operator that owns the S1 object, the
control-plane end point group, and the user-plane end point group have been added

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. Huawei Confidential Page 21

Add X2 Configuration (ADD X2)

Use this command to add an X2 object.

 Before adding an X2 object, ensure that the operator that owns the X2 object, the control-plane end point
group, and the user-plane end point group have been added.
 The X2 self-setup is supported for a CnOperator MO only after the CpEpGroupId parameter under the X2 MO
for this CnOperator MO is added.

Add OM Channel (ADD OMCH)

Use this command to add a remote maintenance channel.

Note: Local IP Indicates the local IP address of a remote maintenance channel. Peer IP indicates
the IP address of the U2000.
An eNodeB can be configured with a maximum of two remote maintenance channels, which are
the active and standby remote maintenance channels.

Note
• When SubframeAssignment is set to 0,
the TTI Bundling function cannot be
enabled. Otherwise, the services will be
interrupted.
• The frequency band for an FDD cell must
be one of frequency bands 1 to 14 and 17
to 21 and 25 and 28 and 31 to 32, and
the frequency band for a TDD cell must
be one of frequency bands 33 to 43 and
60 to 64. In specific frequency bands, the
UL and DL EARFCNs of a cell must be
set in compliance with the rules described
in 3GPP TS 36.104.
• A Cell MO includes the cell ID and related
radio frequency (RF) information. It is
configured by network planning engineers
based on site requirements.
• The number of ports for transmitting
reference signals in a cell cannot be
larger than the number of physical
antennas.
• Before adding a cell object, ensure that
the associated eNodebFunction object
has been configured
