INTRODUCTION often shortened to composites or called composition materials, are engineered or naturally occurring materials made from two or more constituent materials with significantly different physical or chemical properties which remain separate and distinct at the macroscopic or microscopic scale within the finished structure.
Two materials in which one of the materials, called the
reinforcing phase, is in the form of fibers, sheets, or particles, and is embedded in the other materials called the matrix phase. The reinforcing material and the matrix material can be metal, ceramic, or polymer. Composites are used because overall properties of the composites are superior to those of the individual components. Properties of hemp fiber It can reinforce plastic. It can substitute mineral fibers. It has no waste disposal problems. It has excellent acoustic insulation. It is non-flammable (no toxic combustion products) It is easy to use. Properties of sisal fiber It has Very hard wearing(ideal for high traffic areas) It is biodegradable. Sisal fibers are Anti static, does not attract or trap dust particles and does not absorb moisture or water easily. It exhibits good sound and impact absorbing properties. Research Gap The formation of hemp/sisal fiber composite is done by using different weight percentage of fibers.
For preparation of hemp/sisal composite different orientation of
fiber method is not used till now. Objective
In this project hemp and sisal fiber are used as
reinforcement with epoxy polymer as matrix and whole setup is prepared by hand lay up technique.
By changing the orientation of fibers tensile strength
flexural strength, hardness test can be performed .Angle fiber direction will be 0°,45°and 90°. Test to be performed Tensile Test
Hardness Test
Impact Test
