Gerunds are words that are formed
with verb-ing but act as nouns
Kinds of gerund:
1.The subject of a sentence.
2. The object of a verb.
3. The complement of a sentence.
4. The object of a preposition.
It has the function as the subject of a
sentence ,and it is always placed at the beginning of
a sentence.
Examples :
a. Cheating is a bad habit.
b. Reading helps you learn English.
c. Hiking can be a relaxing activity.
d. Cooking is one of her hobbies.
It is a gerund that is written after a verb.
Examples:
a. I really enjoy swimming in the sea.
b. Jill suggested going for a drink
c. She prefers listening to rock music.

It is a gerund that completes the meaning of a
sentence and refers to a subject of a sentence.
Examples:

c. The most important thing is learning.
d. My favorite activity is sleeping
It is a gerund that is written after a prepositions.
Kinds of Preposition :
Against, at, after, before, by , on, instead of , about, of,
without, for, in, etc.
Examples:
a. I am against smoking in public places.
b. She is good at speaking English.
c. I went home after leaving the party.
d. You can improve your English by using the Internet.
e. We need to keep on going.
f. You should tell the truth instead of lying all the time.
g. I am thinking about leaving this job.
h. I'm tired of waiting for you.
i. You can't learn English without making mistakes.
