REALLIGNMENT LVL LVL LVL
Existing road running through the project stretch is having
very geometrics & is not up to the standard of NH. As
14+570 17+770
there are reverse curves in hilly terrain, poor sight
1 (SH-15, Ch (SH-15, Ch 3.20 2.52 650 586.5 529 4.70%
distance and has insufficient transition length therefore
89+770) 92+970)
Design Speed is not achievable. Hence realignment is
proposed.
29+210 31+100 Project road runs through very bad geometric road. With
2 (SH-15, Ch (SH-15, Ch 1.89 1.989 Bridges and Approaches. Design speed is not available.
104+410) 106+300) Hence realignment is proposed.
Project road runs through chincholli town. Keeping in view
31+930 33+900 of growth of the city,The existing alignment will create
3 (SH-15, Ch (SH-15, Ch 1.97 1.62 problem inside the Chincholli town in future. Therefore a
107+130) 109+100) bypass is proposed to Chincholli town in the present
scope.
Project road runs through very bad geometric surface
38+930 39+670
across Nala with rolling terrain. Existing curves have
4 (SH-122, Ch (SH-122, Ch 0.74 0.687 464 482 489 3.70%
insufficient sight distances therefore design speed is not
100+070) 99+330)
available. Hence realignment is proposed.
Project road runs through Mariyan village. Which has
heavily built up no of houses on either side of road, with
45+170 47+600
much encroachment and Curves in the city will not provide
5 (MDR, Ch (MDR, Ch 2.43 2.56 457 454 460 1.40%

village in the present proposal.

DISCUSSION ON ALIGNMENT
KMZ file
HORIZONTAL ALIGNMENT
The highway basically follows the alignment of SHs and MDRs upgraded from ODR over the years. Most of
the places the alignment is over curves and bends which will need improvement as per the geometric
requirement of NH Two lane/Four lane specifications. The details of sharp curves which require
improvement is shown below in the Table. In accordance with provisions of clause 2.2 of IRC SP:73-2007,
the existing alignment will be examined and realignment suggested where essential. As can be seen from
the table below, there are a large number of chainages which will require curve improvement. In certain
cases realignment may also be required.

VERTICAL ALIGNMENT
The vertical geometry is an issue of significance. Especially in the ghat section substantial improvement in
the vertical profile will be required. This issue will be clearer once the details of topographical survey are
available. It may be pointed out that the vertical profile appears to confirm to the Stopping Sight Distance
and not the Intermediate sight distances. JMSPL will design the same in accordance with the relevant code
of practise for the vertical alignment once the detailed surveyed data are available. Presently no major
vertical alignment correction reaches are observed.
