GE has started creating digital replicas of machines
in the cloud. It could be any machine an MRI
scanner, a jet engine or a wind farm-A digital twin. 2
We can then run simulations that allow us to
optimize the operations for multiple different
outcomes.

GE is writing software like Predix, which is the cloud-

based operating system for machines that allows us
to connect them to the Industrial Internet. An online
platform to network and collect data from sensors
on industrial machinery such as gas turbines or
windmills. At the time, GE touted the benefits of
using machine learning to find patterns in sensor
data that could lead to energy savings or
preventative maintenance before a breakdown.

accent. It converts your voice into text and then
searches through the database to answer the query
or carry out the task.

NEURAL NETWORK
Neural networks are based on ideas about how the brain may work.
Input stimuli (e.g. the parameter values encountered in a problem
situation) are connected through a network of nodes to output nodes.
This technique has been widely used in many classification and
optimization situations.
History data are used to train the network, automatically determining
the most appropriate configuration of the hidden network.
