Gaseous oxygen is a colorless ,odourless gas and liquid

oxygen has a clear, pale-blue colour.

Oxygen doesnt burn, supports combustion of other

substances.

Most of the materials are more react with oxygen.

Materials selection to be least reactive based on condition

of service.

Not to be exposed more than 2 % higher than air
Enriched oxygen atmosphere is
- More intense
- Higher temp
- Greater heat output rate
Oxygen fire cannot be extinguished untill the
source is isolated.

Exclusion of people from oxygen enriched zones.

People catching fire in an enriched oxygen atmosphere

cannot be rescued by a person.

The victim shall be deluged with water from a shower and

go in to fresh air as soon as possible.

Immediate medical treatment is required.

 Recommendations

Proper training and awareness to be given to the

people, who are expected to work in oxygen
enrichment area.
Proper equipment is being used to arrest the
leak.
Use suitable clean clothing.
Never use oil or grease to lubricate oxygen
equipment.
Escape routes must be kept clear at all times.
