STRING SECTION

STRING SECTION

With stringed instruments, sound is produced by


setting a string into vibration, either by plucking it
with a finger(pizzicato) or by bowing it with a horse
hair bow (arco)

WOODWIND SECTION

All woodwind instruments involve a vibrating


column of air set into motion by the players breath
blowing against a mouth hole, a single reed, or a
double reed.

Edge Tone Instruments


These have a mouth hole or embouchure with a sharp
edge; the player blows over this in such a manner that the
column of the air inside the instrument is set into vibration

Single-Reed Instruments
These have a single cane reed placed against a
mouthpiece in such a manner that the tip is free to vibrate
when the players breath is blown against it

Double-Reed Instruments
These have two reeds placed back to back and inserted in
the instrument so that the tips are free to vibrate when the
player blows against it.

All Brass instruments have a vibrating column of air,


set in motion by the buzz of the players lips in the
mouthpiece.

GUIDELINES ON PT #3 Price Brouchure


1. Each student will select one instrument for each four (4) sections of the
orchestra and creatively describe their chosen instrument by designing it in a
price-brochure style.
Example: String : Violin
Woodwind : Clarinet
Brass : French Horn
Percussion : Chimes

2. Each instrument must show an artistically drawn picture and brief yet
important details and specifications. Each instrument must indicate for how
much are they being sold or if there are any promo to be applied.

3. The final output shall be drawn in a short bond paper or of any quality paper
of the same size (8 inches). At the same time, students may also use other
materials for their output.
4. Students may opt to have it folded horizontally or crossed or back-to-back or
any position depending on the design and layout
5. The performance output is an integrated project with Arts 6**. Criteria for
grading is as follow:
Accuracy and Was the included information significant for potential
Significance of the buyers? Does it include basic speficiation such as size, 10 points
Information materials used, construction, etc?

Did the design and layout attractive for potential buyers?
