Our Learning Target:
I can create a Egyptian
landscape that demonstrates
three-planes, texture and
collage techniques.
Day 1- Colorful sunset
When you think of the sunset from the last
picture, what colors are on the BOTTOM?
Middle? Top?
This is called a GRADIENT- when colors slowly
transition!

DEMO
Sunset Rules
1. Write your name on the back!!
2. Draw clouds and a sun with a WHITE CRAYON
3. ORANGE- Bottom of the page to 1/3 up
4. Red-Purple Middle
5. Blue on top
6. Put it in the Red Drying Rack
Once youre finished and cleaned up, grab a how to draw a
camel worksheet and practice on a whiteboard

Remember that the bottom half of your art


will get covered by what we do later
Texture- Day 2
Create your own texture
using funky scissors and
creating texture combs
Create different colors of
sand by adding yellow and
brown together
Try painting on white,
brown, or yellow cardstock
to get different looks!
Creating Sand Dunes
Gently RIP your textured papers to create
round hills, or DUNES
Layer them so there is a FOREGROUND,
MIDDLEGROUND, and BACKGROUND on your
sunset
Glue the BACK ON FIRST
Day 3- Pyramid and Putting things
together
Cut a triangle out of
construction paper
Use yellow, orange
and red oil pastels
to add color
Use a dark oil pastel
to create a line and
SMUDGE it towards
the side
How to draw a camel
Draw on black paper
Your camels should be
smaller than your
hand
Once drawn, cut them
out carefully on the
outside line
Place them in your
Egyptian Landscape
Materials needed
Day 1(sunset): Watercolor paper with your name
on it, dried tempera, white tempera, brush and
sponge
Day 2(making the sand dunes): cardstock and
funky scissors, white cardstock and brown and
yellow tempera
Day 3(making the pyramids): yellow cardstock, oil
pastels, and scissors
Day 4 (camels): Black construction paper, how to
draw a camel
