Global Warming Is Real ?!

Frida Espinoza & Samantha Valdovinos

YES !
Objectives
SWBAT understand what global warming actually is.

SWBAT learn about one perspective of global warming and

decide whether they agree or disagree.

SWBAT discover the impact the climatic change has in our

environment and world.
Essential Questions
I. Is global warming the same as climate change? Explain.

II.Why are there differing views about the existence of

global warming?

III.Are scientists only confusing the public about global

warming?

IV.Who will be affected the most by these differing

opinions? Why?

V. How will this affect the future of our planet?

Definitions
Global warming:
A gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earths
atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect
caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide,
chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants

Climatic Change:
Long-term change in the Earths overall temperature with
massive and permanent ramifications
Importance
Global warming is important since it helps predict the
future weather

Global warming also affects different parts of the world

in different ways not just the climate
Greenhouse Effect
Greenhouse gases are mainly made up of carbon

The gases trap heat from the sun

The more heat trapped the warmer the Earth gets and feels
What Causes Global Warming ?
HUMAN ACTIVITIES

We have evolved and weve used knowledge to create different

advances

We learned to use fossil fuels as natural resources

We have created technology

We dont take care of the Earth

Effects of global warming
Some may Contradict...
They are people that disagree with the idea of global
warming.

Ex:

It mainly comes from a political controversy

Humans have nothing to do with the change

The temperature didnt arise by a lot

The Greenhouse Effect has been falsified

SLOs
Investigate The World: This is done by discovering a major
event going on all around the world that can destroy our
future lives.

Communicate Ideas: This is done by finding a way to present

this topic in the most accurate way possible to share our
personal thoughts on this topic.

Recognize and Weigh Perspectives: This is done by comparing

our partners thoughts and coming to one's own conclusion
after reviewing the different aspects from different sources.
Essential Questions
I. Is global warming the same as climate change? Explain.

A. Based on their definition, they are the same just that global warming is the
actual problem and climatic change is a more general word and meaning.

II. Why are there differing views about the existence of global warming?

A. There are differing views due to the fact that it isnt something that has been
completely proven and most are still not focused on it being an issue since it
isnt announced as often.

III.Are scientists only confusing the public about global warming?

A. No, the public may be confused because of little information given and no
interest in the topic.

IV. Who will be affected the most by these differing opinions? Why?

A. Those who will be affected are the regular people in the street because they
Ways To Solve/Take Action
Oceans:#1 victim

Ocean acidification: rise in acidity in the chemistry of the ocean as

the effect of carbon dioxide reacting to the salt water

Marine life is dying to to warmer waters so making donations to

preserve the animals.

Also there might be able to find ways to collect the water and
make use of it.

Electricity

We can save power.

We can start walking more often to not create air pollution.
