What Is Oral Health ?
* Oral health means keeping teeth , gums and mouth healthy .
* So healthy mouth enables an individual to speak, eat, and
socialize without experiencing active disease, discomfort, or
embarrassment.
* After knowing the importance of oral health we should
promote oral health through reaching children and adolescent in
schools and through them we will reach families and
communities members

While school food services are often managed by the public or .
private sectors through the ministry of education, it is important
for schools, teachers, students, and school oral health services to
collaborate closely with them to support healthy eating
initiatives in schools
2-Tooth brushing

Tooth brushing in schools is a valuable tool for


reinforcing good oral hygiene.
A classroom brushing program is an excellent way to help
students learn and practice proper brushing techniques

The most important aspect of tooth brushing from an


early age is to develop a regular tooth brushing habit and
to provide topical application of fluoride through
reduce the chance of tooth .toothpaste to the teeth to
decay in children
3-Role of school teachers
Since children spend a considerable amount of time with
teachers during their school education, it becomes the
responsibility of the teachers, by virtue of their training to
impart such knowledge to the children.

The National Oral Health Care Program states that when


teachers brush their teeth, students follow the suit and it
becomes a daily exercise routine for them.

school dental health programmed in Palestine have been
established to promote general and oral health among
school children in government and UNRWA schools, there
was a gradual increase in the prevalence of dental
disorders and mainly dental caries.

Incidences of periodontitis, fluorosis and malocclusion


were the highest in the year of Al-Quds Intifada upraise,
and in 10th grade school children.
Increased oral and dental diseases in children in Palestine
have overloaded the health services and caused a negative
impact on the effectiveness of prevention programs and
health promotion strategies in both of Palestinian Ministry
of Health and UNRWA.
