WHAT IS LT SYSTEM - Facilities
LT System is abbreviated from Lurgi-Thyssen System. It is
designed as a dry-type cleaning system for high-efficient
cleaning and further cooling of gases which are produced
during the steelmaking process in the converter.

WHAT IS LT SYSTEM Cooling Stack

Cooling Stack (CS)

CS consists of three main component (adjustable skirt,
fixed hood, and cooling stack).

Cooling Stack

Adjustable skirt is installed to minimize

the opening between converter mouth and
hood inlet during the blowing process.

Skirt Heat from BOF-gas is transferred on its

Hood inlet way through the CS to the cooling medium.
Cooling medium is circulated via LP- and HP-
pumps.

WHAT IS LT SYSTEM Gas Conditioning Tower

Gas Conditioning Tower (GCT)

A high temperature expansion joint connects
the cooling stack with the GCT.
The inlet cone of GCT is water-cooled.
By means of gas distribution internal velocity
inlet and volume flow of the waste gas entering the
Nozzle
GCT is balanced throughout the entire cross
section.
Nozzle lances (24 operation; 8 spare) are
located at the very top cylindrical part of the
GCT. Steam will be used for atomization of the
outlet
injected water.
A drag chain conveyor is integrated in the outlet
elbow of the GCT.

WHAT IS LT SYSTEM Electrostatic Precipitator
Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP)

Fig. Side View of Electrostatic Precipitator

ESP is a particulate collection device that removes
particles from a flowing gas (such as air) using the force
of an induced electrostatic charge.
Inside the ESP discharge electrode and collecting plates
are arranged in one or more electrical and mechanical
individual fields

Earthing

Electrons are emitted from discharge electrodes which have been charged with a rectified
negative high voltage. These electrons migrate to the collecting electrodes and thereby meet
gas molecules and dust particles. As the electrons accumulate on the dust particles, the latter
become negatively charged, and the electric field transports them to the earthed collecting
electrodes where they remain.

WHAT IS LT SYSTEM CUP VALVE
Cup Valve
The cup valve is operated by hydraulic pressure in the pipe, it is designed to diffuse
gas to the emission side as when valve goes downward, opening toward the stack.
Since the disk and wing are joined together, the valve diffuses more gas as it goes
downward.

WHAT IS LT SYSTEM Flare Stack

Flare Stack (FS) The flare stack provided with 1 flare tip and
flare ignition device, to make sure there is no
CO gas release to the air.
