REPORT

WRITING
REPORT WRITING
A report gives information about something.
Besides writing a report on incidents such as
road accidents or snatch thefts, you may be
asked to write about events such as Sports Day,
Teachers Day celebration, trips to places of
interest and so on.)
A report must have a title at the top and the
report writers name at the bottom left.
What should you do?

1.You should use formal language


2.Reports are normally written in the past
tense
3.You should have a title and write at
least 4 paragraphs.
4.You should have an appropriate ending
with the name of the writer written at
the end.
5.You should keep your sentences short.
STEP 1: Write a TITLE

You need to give your report a


title that starts with
Report on

For example,
STEP 2: Describe your trip in general

This is important when you write a


report. You need to tell your reader
these first:

Who was the organiser?


What was the activity?
Where was the destination?
How long was the event?
What was the aim/objective of the
event?
STEP 3: Write your story.
Basically,

What happened on the first day ?


What happened on the second day?
What happened on the third day?

If it happened within a day,

What happened in the morning ?


What happened in the afternoon?
What happened in the evening?

Note: For a report you do not need to put in too


much drama. Be more formal, and talk about
the things that have happened.
STEP 4: when you finish your

CONCLUSION

Before you end, say thank you to

you and helped you or sometimes
you can write about the things
that you have learned from what
happened.
