DESIGN INTENT
The Green Boulevard in Noida was a dream project for 3C
company. The company wanted the iconic tower to reflect their
commitment to clean energy and a clean environment.
The architectural team that conceptualized the buildings design
was Design & Development.
The objective of the design was to produce a green building that
also satisfied the functional and aesthetic norms of a corporate
office. The goal, however, was not to earn a green certification
but to spread awareness about protecting the environment
through energy-efficient buildings and minimal energy
consumption.
About GREEN BOULEVARD
Green Boulevard is the World's Largest Platinum rated LEED certified
Green Building from USGBC in Shell & Core Category. The building is
a multi-tenant project that is based on the concept of creating a
congenial campus like environment, where every tenant can share
common areas, facilities and still retain their privacy.

The building located in Sector-62 is an IT hub to companies like

Accenture, Sapient & Nokia Siemens. It is the largest project to be
awarded the Platinum rating in the shell & Core category.
Green Boulevard is now amongst the ten green buildings in the world
to have been recognized with Platinum rating.
The three towers, of this 9,52,000 sq.ft. development, are
staggered horizontally and vertically, giving each one visibility
from the road.
The stilted public realms on the lower floors consist of an
amphitheatre, a gym, a cafeteria and shops, helping to form an
area of common interests. The shaded stilted landscape areas
provide easy visual & physical connections, which create an
interactive environment.
The building help to reduce Ambient Temperature i.e.
the temperature of the surrounding environment.
The building is designed to
help reduce Ambient
Temperature.

The private areas (offices) start from the second-floor upwards.

The towers are designed around shaded landscape courts with
water bodies & plants, which help to reduce the ambient
temperature. The building depth has been optimized to capture
daylight and to maximize views.
The orientation of buildings, insulated walls, roof and use of high-
performance glass help minimise energy loads.
Amphitheatre : An area of common interest.
Light and Ventilation
There north-south orientation of the building ensures minimum
direct sunlight from the north while the clever horizontal projection
design feature cuts off the high sun from the South side. All the
exterior shading systems are designed to cut off heat and get
glare-free light. Pre cooled fresh air; the heat recovery wheel and
free cooling during fair weather further help in energy
conservation.

It was ascertained as per the building simulation results that the

Active and Passive features of the Green Boulevard, together,
help in saving 40% energy from other office buildings in India. The
inherent design principle of the Green Boulevard strives to
balance-
environmental responsibility
energy efficiency
resource efficiency
comfort of the occupant
community sensitivity
The Design and Innovation Process

The Green Boulevard underwent a design and innovation process

that was unheard of in India before.

To ensure the building was self-sufficient and economically viable,

it was decided to generate electricity using natural gas.
A cost-effective co-generation system was adopted.
To minimize energy consumption, the buildings orientation was
set in the North-South direction, which ensured maximum wind
and sunlight while blocking excessive heat. An aerodynamic
shape was chosen for the structure that would allow the free flow
of wind, thus ensuring the exterior surface remained cooler than its
surroundings.
Glass panels Clever
were fitted horizontal
with double- projection
glazing to design
avoid feature cuts
excessive off the high
heat sun from the
absorption. South side.

Occupancy sensors, lux level meters, solar power, low

consumption fittings and other such techniques were
incorporated into the design to increase energy efficiency.
A zero-discharge water cycle was incorporated so that waste
water could be reused for landscaping and cooling purposes.
The built and surrounding environments were given priority in the
design process.
Intelligent plantation was conceived to ensure the surroundings
remained clean and pleasant. CO2 sensors were introduced to
keep the air pure, while a mechanically stacked parking lot took
care of the air volume, even in the basement area.
RCC Structure Faade Treatment

Building Structure
The building is a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) framed
structure.
The materials used in the building are:
Structure Reinforced cement concrete (RCC)
Walls Bricks
Faade Aluminium composite panel (ACP), glass, and a dry
cladding of granite
Glass Faade
The glass faade is made up of a double glass unit (DGU). Louvers
have been inserted between the two glasses of the DGU. The
louvers are reflective and thus help to increase penetration of
natural light into the building. The faade was designed in such a
way to give the building a futuristic look, and at the same, the
impression of a sturdy structure. The key materials used are glass
and metal. The solidity of the structure is due to the use of natural
stone at the base of the building.

Role of Glass
The glass used in the faade plays a crucial role in the overall
building structure. It reduces the absorption of heat while allowing
natural light to penetrate work spaces

Developers Words
Vidur Bharadwaj, director, The 3C Company said, Green Boulevard will
not only put forth India on an international map of green buildings but
also elevate Noida for having two Platinum Rated Leed Certified Green
Buildings now. The mission for developing green buildings has not only
helped in saving huge operating energy costs for the benefit of end
users but has inculcated a discipline within the organization to preserve
the environment. Green Boulevard is another step in direction of
preserving the environment.
