BREAKDOWN OF TEAM REPORTS
Training Topics Covered by the various Groups:
- Identity
- Relationships
- Purpose
- Career
- Peer pressure
- Gifts & Talents
- The 4 Spiritual laws
- Prayer
The schools, through their various chaplains and head teachers were very co-operative.
For ease of reach out and communication in the primary schools the classes were mostly
divided into 3 clusters of P1-P4, P5 and P6-P7.
Most of the Primary schools had vibrant worship teams that sung choruses both in English
and Kinyankole.
Some of the secondary schools have very strong Christian Unions which are refered to as
Scripture Union. They also have student counselors.
Due to introduction of Universal secondary education, some of the schools have both
boarding and day students.
A few of the schools have also invested in IT.
BREAKDOWN OF TEAM REPORTS CONT..
Womens Convention:
This was held at the Mothers Union Hall where they invited
some of the men to speak and we had Ken Okul, Ben Waititu and
Deacon Joe Muriuki attend the convention with them. Key topics
discussed were:
The mans role in a family
The womans role in a family
The children within the family
Family walk in Christianity
Prayer and fasting within the family
BREAKDOWN OF TEAM REPORTS CONT..
Crusade at the Mothers Union Hall Grounds
The crusades were blessed with an average of 800 people in attendance
each day (total of 2,400 for the 3 days).
Naomi Kayaro was able to give her personal testimony and Word of
Encouragement on the 1st day. She was then followed by Tom Amko
giving the Word leading up to the Altar Call and we had quite a number
of people giving their lives to Christ. Day 2 of the crusade had a great
praise and worship session followed by a session of powerful and moving
testimonies and a video show on Jesus translated into Kinyankole.
Day 3 equally had a great praise and worship session, real life
testimonies and a 2nd video show translated into Kinyankole.
BREAKDOWN OF TEAM REPORTS CONT..
Sunday Service:
The team attended the Youth Service at 8.00 a.m. as well as the 2nd service where on both services
Daniel Ndinguri preached in both services from Ezekiel 18:1-4. 2nd service had our Deacon Joe
Muriuki take up the pulpit as well.
And during the first service a number of students gave their lives to Jesus Christ and All Glory
returns to God.
Visitations:
Part of the team members visited Canon Eninde to encourage her husband Canon who is recovering
from stroke. The team comprising of Ken Okul, Tony Macharia, Parfait Aishi and John Musinguzi
engaged in 1 hour of worship and prayer.
The entire mission team were hosted for Dinner and Fellowship at Canon Rujookis home (John
Musinguzi's Parents). This was part of the planned visit to Musinguzis mother and to visit their
new born son whom we named Nyangao.
The entire mission team was also able to visit the family of the Mens ministry parents in-law at
Kisumu as part of the pre-planned visitations where we were hosted for lunch. As we visited mzee
Ouma who has been ailing, we worshipped and prayed with the family over lunch.

KEY SUCCESSES
1. Counseling
2. Discipleship
3. More Evangelism
RECOMMENDATIONS
Pre-Mission training
As captured above, and just like any cross cultural mission, some missioners were
not adequately prepared for cross cultural interface; the net effect in such occasions is
always a total psychological disconnect with recipients. It is therefore recommended
that future missions address this through rigorous trainings, and this should form the
sole basis for qualification to attend the mission.
Evangelism
Most of the evangelism happened in schools and around Rushere area. In
partnership with the local churches, there is a need to address the urge for evangelism
in the far flung villages outside Rushere, e.g. Nyakasharara, Kiruhura, Rwemikoma,
Buremba, Burunga, etc. Of particular necessity is capacity building for the locals to
evangelize and preach the message of salvation in the said areas.
Church Strengthening
In as much as the local church appears strong on teaching of the word, other areas
of a purpose driven ministry led Body of Christ have to be infused into the system.
There should be a deliberate effort in driving the local church towards achieving some
success in areas of fellowship, discipleship and worship. This may include subtle
structural adjustments on the status quo, but which will go a long way towards overall
strengthening.
RECOMMENDATIONS CONT..
Discipleship.
While the mission was immensely successful, in reference to the number of salvation and
rededication decisions made, a lot needs to be done in terms of short-term follow-up and long-
term discipleship.
The short term follow-up plan should include contacting all those who made salvation and re-
dedication decisions and for a session of encouragement as well as placing them into a
foundational discipleship process. An area specific model will have to be thought of, that will
include, but not limited to translation of available materials into local dialect, and provision of
bibles, both in English and local language.
A longer term model has to include capacity building for discipleship through regular
trainings and establishment of small group bible study and fellowships both in schools,
shopping centres and the villages.
A discipleship process that places emphasis on growth and multiplication would work out
best. As such, pioneer discipleship leaders will have to be identified and taken through
training.
It is our considered opinion that the discipleship process be independent from the local church
institution and structure.
Partnerships with like-minded institutions on the same cannot be over-emphasized. This will
only fall short of engaging the same like-minded institutions and individuals in setting up a
local run church plant.
MOP Bible study among the Kampala Revival Fellowship Men should formally commence
after the un-official launch in Kampala.
We will have to put together a team to implement the recommendations within the next one
month (End July).
CONCLUSION
While the mission availed an opportunity to share
the gospel, it also doubled up as a ground for
appreciation of cultural differences to the team.
It is worth noting that the hosts (Largely drawn
from the Banyankole community) are a very
hospitable lot and the team had a great time and
perfect blend with the community while ministering.
