 OBJECTIVE:

To reducing the energy loss due to friction and reducing

depreciation of machinery
 CONCEPT

Tribology is a science that deals with friction, lubrication and wear

in all contacting pairs.
Tribology appears that surface roughness plays an important role in
tribological phenomena.
Failure rate of tribo pair( gears or two machine components in
relative sliding motion) depends on the surface roughness of machine
components .
At the beginning of tribo action there is a possibility of high surface
roughness (infant mortality ).
Similarly over a prolonged usage of the component a significant
increase in the surface roughness occurs.
 OPERATION

First lubricaton process is used to reduce the friction and wear

rates in a gears by using suitable lubricant.

Polishing,scouring,scratching,grinding,gouging,scalling,scuffing
operations are Used to resisting the wear

Reducing shear strength and increasing the hardness reduces

the coefficient of friction.
