The passage tells us that learning
English through new programs has
some advantages. Therefore, we are
advised to learn English through news
on the radio or on TV.
A lot of students attach significance to
English learning and they have their
own methods. Its obvious that learning
English through new programs has
some advantages. To begin with, news
programs are interesting because they
come from our real life. In addition,
news programs create an environment
for us to focus on the problems that we
should pay attention to.
However, every coin has two sides.
Learning English in this way may take
up too much time, which will lead to a
waste of time and energy.
And watching TV for a long time does
harm to our eyes . Whats worse, for
those beginners, its likely that they
cant follow the programs well and thus
cant gather effective information.
To a degree, I hold the view that
learning English through news
programs can be a good attempt, which
improves the English levels of students
gradually. Besides, it is advised that we
should read original novels and take
notes as well to improve our English.
Actually, it really has its advantages. First, the
words in news programs are clear and direct,
which can make learners understand the news
easily. In addition, the current and fresh
information can lead us to know more about
other countries culture and to speak their
language better because the main factor of
learning English is that we need to use it.
Whats more, it is of great help to improve our
listening , which may be a big problem for most
English learners.
But each coin has two sides. It also has some
drawbacks. For example, it is difficult to learn
the grammer through news programs.
And it is not feasible to know the exact
meanings which the learners dont know.
In my opinion, we should schedule
properly. We are meant to attach
importance to words and pronunciation,
so we can practise in the morning and
evening. In addition, we can take notes
in order to remember them anywhere.
Keep it in mind that a strong will can
support you when you are on the point
of giving up; in the meanwhile,
choosing the best way of learning can
help you live up to your expectations !

My dear classmate,
Whether our school campus is a safe place
to stay on means a lot to both teachers and
students. And the campaign safety at school
launched recently will make us aware that
safety should always come first whatever we do.

Accidents can happen easily at school.

When doing sports, we might get injured.
When decorating our classroom standing on
the desk, we might fall to the ground and get
hurt. When having disagreement with our
classmates, we
might quarrel and cause fighting.
So, I think, to follow our PE
teachers advice can avoid unnecessary
injuries in PE class. And it will be
helpful to have some students around
when we have to do things on high
places. Besides, quarrelling or even
fighting is not a wise choice to solve the
disagreement with our classmates since
it may bring suffering and pain to us
mentally and physically.
Thanks.
As an old saying goes health is wealth.
and safety is as important as health, so a safe
life is necessary.
Our school is not the most safe place in the
world, so we should attach great importance to
the sense of safety. For example, when we
play sports on the playground, we are
supposed not to do something dangerous,
such as climbing trees or we will get hurt by
accident. In addition, having words with
classmates does more harm than good
because it will not only break up our friendship,
but also make our feelings bad and even lead
to a fight.
In my opinion, its the most important
to obey the rules which teach us how to
keep safe. And there is no doubt that
teenagers frendship is very valuable,
so we should be strict with ourselves
and be kind to others just like our
ancestors did.
All in all, safety is very important. Its
my great honour to give a speech here,
thank you for your listening.
21
As we all know, we cant study well if the
school is filled with violence. And its
obvious that we all attach importance to
the safety at school.
However, there are some safety problems
at school. For example, some classmates
will argue with each other when they are
doing sports. And whats worse, some
students may bring some dangerous
things like knives, lighter and so on to
school. We cant imagine the result if
something dangerous happens.
In order to solve the problem,I have
some suggestions. First of all, dont
bring anything dangerous to school.
Second, say sorry to others. When
you make some mistakes, an apology
is necessary.
The more attention we pay, the safer
the school will be. I believe we can
create a safe school together.

Dear Peter,
Im very glad to learn that you have a chance to
come to visit China. I feel more than excited to be
your guide during your visit. As you know, we
have a lot of places of interest, not only in the
cities, but also in the natural areas. You can enjoy
beautiful views of great mountains and long rivers,
such as Mt. Tai, the Yangtze River and the Yellow
River.
As far as I am concerned, you should visit some
natural areas during your visit, for it is very hot in
August here. Besides, you can enjoy the beauty of
our cities on the way there.
I hope my advice can be of some help to you.
Looking forward to your coming.
Yours, Lin Tao
Dear Peter,
Im very glad to learn that you have a chance to
come to visit China. Its my pleasure to be your
companion and guide while you are in China.
Now let me tell you my arrangement for the
journey.
As we all know, the temperature in China is high
in August. As far as Im concerned, the best place
to travel is Yunnan Province, which has various
mountains and beautiful rivers. Not only does it
have a lot of wonderful and natural scenery, but
also has a long history. You may lose yourself in
its beauty. After that , well fly to Shanghai. It is
famous as the economic center of China.
There are many tall buildings in the city,
one of which is the Oriental Pearl Tower.
Its a landmark of Shanghai and you can
get a wonderful view on the top of the
tower.
There is no doubt that Beijing is
recognised as the political, educational,
and cultural center of the People's
Republic of China. If you want to have an
enjoyable journey , its strongly
recommended that you pay a visit to the
Great Wall,the Summer Palace ,the
Olympic Park and many other attractions.
When you feel tired after one day's
journey ,you can have a taste of the Beijing
Roast Duck , which is a kind of traditional food
in Beijing. If you like, I will take you to have a
look at Beijing Hutong, which first appeared
during Yuan Dynasty. To our delight, there are
still plenty of Hutongs with different shapes,
lengths and directions. While wandering in the
Hutong, we can feel the enthusiasm and
culture of Chinese people.
In fact, there is so much to see and so much to
try that I can hardly wait to see you and start
our wonderful trip in China!

Ways of Learning English in
Everyday Life 120

Ways of Learning English in
Everyday Life
As we know, English is the most popular and
widely used language in the world. It plays an
important part in our daily life. Therefore, it is of
great importance to learn it well. But how can we
have a good command of it? Here is some advice
for you. ()
Firstly, fall in love with English. There is a saying
goes that interest is the best teacher. Your
interest is the biggest motivation to learn, which
will force you to find effective ways to learn.
Secondly, youd better make a good plan for
your study. Learning languages needs
patience as well as methods for its really a
long and tough process. ()
Thirdly, there is no denying that native
English speakers are good at English
speaking, so if you are lucky enough, you
should make good use of the chance to talk
with the native speakers as much as
possible.
Believe it or not, there is no such thing as a
short cut to success except hard work. So
work hard and practice more, and you will
make progress. Above are my ideas. Hope
they can be helpful to you !
